Polish addicts have this discussion from time to time about polish names. Occasionally, they can mean the difference between purchasing a polish, and leaving it sitting in the store alone. Sometimes, we buy mediocre polishes just because they have a funny or meaningful name! Other times, annoying names mean skipping a generally fantastic polish. Essie Bikini So Teeny was almost one of those skips for me. There is something about the name "Bikini So Teeny" that makes me want to punch somebody. I have no clue why, and I'm sure some people find the name to be cute. It makes me want to vomit though.
Fortunately for my polish loving self, my mom really wanted BST (I can't even stand typing "Bikini So Teeny"). So I picked it up, along with Essie Mojito Madness from the same collection. I completely LOVE this color!! It's a stunning light blue color that seems kind of pastel, but is actually very bright. I had BST on my toes for at least 2 weeks after getting it and I really loved the bright wink of blue on my toes!
The formula of this polish is only OK. It needed three coats and some babying to look even. It does tend toward the streaky side and you can see some streaks in these pictures. That's another reason why I loved it on my toes- you really don't see flaws from that far away!! Another slight issue, there is pretty silver shimmer in the bottle that really doesn't exist on the nail. As long as you prepare yourself for this, it's not really a big deal.
Overall, I'm really glad I got this polish. Hate the name, not the best formula, but REALLY lovely color. Essie Bikini So Teeny is available online at Apothica.com.

I love this color, but I agree - the name is kinda weird!
ReplyDeleteHaha, i'm glad I'm not alone! I thought I was the only one who found it odd!
ReplyDeleteI was just reading someone else who said they loved the name - to each her own I suppose ;) I don't own this one, but may need to soon! <3
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I've been waiting for someone else to say this too! I thought I was the odd one out since pretty much everyone else I follow has been gushing about how cute the name is!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, thank you!! This is such a bright, refreshing blue, but I passed it over twice because of the too-cutesey name. Glad I gave in, though, because it really is a great colour. ;)
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I'm sure many people thought it was cute! I don't even know why I don't like it. I usually don't mind names at all!
ReplyDeleteMarisa- I am so glad you said that, because I felt really weird too. It's just one of those names that irks some people, but others love, I guess!
Elizabeth, I'm glad you gave in! I really love the color so much too, so I'm happy we could both get over the name!
I love this one too!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a beautiful color Sasha!
ReplyDeleteWhen I wore it on my fingers, I layered Lynnderella "Inner Space" on top: that way, it only needed TWO coats, and everywhere I went people said, "I love your nails!" :)
ReplyDeleteOOOhhh!! Great idea Renee! I need to get Inner Space. I thought I didn't want it, but I was so wrong!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and beautiful:)I love it:)
ReplyDeleteI've just got this polish and I noticed it was a bit streaky too - glad it wasn't just me
