Illamasqua Mottle

Base: one coat Nicole by OPI Base Coat Plus
Color: three coats Illamasqua Mottle
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: excellent (out of poor, average, good, excellent)

I've had my mint-loving eye on Illamasqua Mottle since the spring I'mperfection collection was first announced. And then my boyfriend gave me a Sephora gift card for Valentine's Day and it was a no brainer for me to order this ASAP! Mottle is a lovely dusty mint with two sizes of black hex glitter and tiny black square glitter. The glitters create a "speckled bird egg effect inspired by the beauty of imperfection found in nature", according to Illamasqua. I definitely see speckled bird egg here, but I also see mint chocolate chip ice cream!!! Yum!

Mottle has a lovely, easy to use formula, like most Illamasqua polishes I have tried. This is three thin coats, but you could definitely do two slightly thicker coats, it's fairly well pigmented. Mottle was not streaky at all and the glitter cooperated nicely. I am sorely tempted to pick up some of the other speckled shades as well! Aside from this mint, there's tan, pink, lilac and blue speckled polishes. I could skip the tan and the pink, but I think I might need Speckle (lilac) and Fragile (blue). Fragile would really look like a bird's egg!

Mottle and the other speckled nail varnishes are available now on Sephora.com. I thought I saw somewhere that these were limited edition, but right now on Sephora it just says exclusive. I will try to double check that for you!

  2. Thanks for reading JQ! You definitely need to give in a little bit to the Illamasqua cravings! Their polishes are really excellent. Just be careful, because they're very addictive! Haha :)
