Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: two coats Zoya Blu
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
I ALWAYS look forward to the Zoya spring collection. Their 2010 Reverie collection is still my favorite spring collection of all time. This year's Lovely collection is filled with all the colors we like to wear when spring is close to arriving, or even when it seems very far away! Like right now, I'm writing this in a blizzard (I wrote this on Friday), so yea.... spring seems pretty far away! The first lacquer I tried from the Lovely collection was Zoya Blu, a pastel very pale powder blue creme. This is a gorgeous pale blue, and I don't own anything quite like this. Other pale blues I own are either not this light, or have too much grey.
Blu had a very nice formula. Maybe a tad thicker than Zoyas usually are, but this is two coats and you can see it has excellent coverage. Also noteworthy, it was not streaky at all! Yay for non-streaky pale cremes!
Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: three coats Zoya Neely
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
Zoya Neely is a super light dusty mint creme. You all probably know by now that I am in a mint state of mind this spring, so this one is necessary to my mint-loving life! It is very different from other mints, say NOPI Alex By the Books or China Glaze Re-freshmint, because it has a very washed out, almost faded look. Neely and Blu both have that same look. You can tell what color they are, but they look like faded versions of those colors. Very cool and different looking!
Neely applied pretty well, although I found it to be pretty thin. I was expecting it to be like Blu, but it was very thin. It didn't make it hard to apply once I became aware of it. The first coat of Neely was a bit streaky, and it needed three coats rather than two. The third coat evened out any remaining streaks and created full opacity.
Base: one coat Zoya Get Even
Color: three coats Zoya Jacqueline
Top: one coat Poshe
Application: good (out of poor, average, good, excellent)
I really love the color of Zoya Jacqueline. It is definitely not your mother's nude, nor is it anyone's mannequin hands shade. Zoya calls it a "magnolia nude creme". On me, it looks more like an off-white with a hint of pastel yellow. It has a stark, edgy looking quality to it that I really like. Jacqueline is like a much paler version of some nudes we've been seeing.
Jacqueline's formula was a lot like Neely's. Thin, but built up to an opaque finish in three coats. A little streaky after the first and second coat, but no streaks by the third coat. As far as pale cremes go, that's pretty good to me!
All three of these shades are very fresh and new looking, while still being colors we all like to wear in the early spring. They gave me some lobster-esque hands, but not terrible, and I will still wear them anyway!! Neely is probably my favorite, given my love of all things even remotely minty right now. But Blu and Jacqueline are calling to me too! By the way, you may recognize Jacqueline and Neely as two of the Peter Som shades that Zoya previously released in a trio for Spring 2013 fashion week.
