Smitten Polish Electric Lime

I took full advantage of the one sunny day we've had in what seems like months to swatch this delicious holo for you! I've had my eye on Smitten Polish Electric Lime for awhile now and finally managed to get it (along with a few other holo treats) a few weeks ago in a restock. Electric Lime is a stunning bright lime linear holo. Out in full sun, it was crazy bright and throwing rainbows all over! I love holos, but sometimes I feel like everyone does the same colors over and over and over again. Pale pink, silver, light blue, pale pink, silver, light blue, etc. Throw me a LIME, baby! Smitten really has a gorgeous array of holos, I picked up four in total, so you'll be seeing them.

This is three coats with no base or top coat. Two coats was pretty opaque, but I did a third for my fussy camera. The formula was fantastic, no dragging or patchiness. It was nice and thin, but not at all runny. Probably one of the easiest holos I've used, right up there with the Color Club Halo Hues.

If you think you need this, and believe me, you do, check out Smitten Polish on Facebook to find out when she'll restock her Big Cartel store.

OPI Spotlight on Glitter plus OPI Glitter Off Base Coat Previews!

Endless Sparklebilities!

OPI Announces a NEW Line of Sparkling Shades with Spotlight on Glitter

Glitter takes center stage with the launch of Spotlight on Glitter, a new collection of OPI’s best and brightest sparkling lacquers. The line showcases OPI’s most popular metallic and holographic lacquers in rainbow, gold, silver and pink iridescent confetti; these glitters may be worn alone or layered over any nail color for a dazzling effect.
“Glitter isn’t just for wearing on New Year’s Eve!  Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean you can’t still wear sparkle,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP.  “Try creating an ombré effect or accent nails by adding a layer of sparkle for a fun night on the town.”
Spotlight on Glitter by OPI includes the following:

You Pink Too Much
I’m obsessed with this rosy glitter set in a shimmery base.

Desperately Seeking Sequins
This prismatic glitter on a backdrop of shimmer is just what you’re looking for.

Rose of Light
A million points of light radiate from this rosy gold and rainbow sparkle.

I Reached My Gold!
The cache of gold confetti in this clear rainbow glitter is all yours!

Chasing Rainbows
Your pursuit of gorgeous has won you this rainbow with pot-of-gold highlights.

Blush Hour
Sorry, gotta blush... this super dense fuchsia glitter is way too charming.

These can be used with Glitter Off -- a new, peel-able base coat that allows for quick and easy removal when applied beneath any glitter shade.  To remove, use a cuticle stick to gently push and peel the glitter lacquer off the nail. No nail polish remover is necessary for this final step.
Spotlight on Glitter by OPI nail lacquers feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.  These six glitter shades and Glitter Off will be available March 2014 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

Zoya Magical Pixie Swatches!

 *Sent for review*

Today I have the holo glitter goodness of the new Zoya Magical Pixie Dust polishes to show you. These are texture polishes, like the Zoya PixieDusts, but with larger glitter particles and with both small and large holo glitter added in as well. First up is the sparkling silver Zoya Cosmo. The holo glitter in this really throws rainbows all over the place, it was kind of freaking out my camera!

This is two coats of Cosmo. It covered easily and was pretty easy to apply. The formula feels thicker than the usual PixieDust formula, but that didn't make it hard to use at all.

Below is one coat of Gelous over Cosmo. With one coat of Gelous, it felt mostly smooth to the touch and I think the shiny top coat really brings out the sparkle.

Zoya Vega is a medium blue texture with large and smaller holo glitter. I really love the holo glitter in these! I love holo glitter in anything though, haha!

This is also two coats. It had good coverage at two coats, with the same slightly thicker feeling formula as Cosmo.

This picture below is Vega with one coat of Gelous. I like this one better without top coat I think, but it's very pretty both ways!

Finally, the lovely Zoya Lux is a light pink texture with the same mix of holo glitters as Cosmo and Vega. I think Lux was a little smoother than the other two in this collection, but still packs the same glittery punch. Somehow the particles felt smaller on the nail, but they look the same as the others, so maybe I'm imagining it!

This is three coats of Lux. It's a lighter pink, so I felt the coverage was better at three coats myself. Good application and it was a bit thinner than the other two.

Below is one coat of Gelous over Lux. It's gorgeous this way too!

I really love all three of these Magical Pixies. I always love holo glitter and as you already know, I love textures. They all dry nice and quickly and will be in my regular rotation for when I need a super fast mani. I do think they will be kind of a matter of personal opinion. I can see some people not liking the larger glitter in these and the added texture. They do seem to smooth out well with top coat though. What do you think of the Magical Pixies?

Zoya Magical Pixie Dusts are available now on zoya.com.

OPI Brazil Swatches, Part 2!

*Sent for review*

The second half of the OPI Brazil collection is all about the brights! To me, nothing says "summer" like a gorgeous bright creme and there are several polishes here that fit that bill perfectly. I've been dying to try OPI I Just Can't Cope-acabana since the minute I saw the promo pictures. It's been awhile since OPI has included a yellow in a collection, so I was pumped to see this. I Just Can't Cope-acabana is somewhere in the middle of a bright yellow and a more creamy yellow. I think if I put it next to a bright, it would look more creamy, but next to a pastel it would look bright!

Yellow cremes have notoriously difficult formulas, but not I Just Can't Cope-acabana! This applied easily and had pigmentation. I used three thin coats here, but it should easily be two regular coats. The first coat had a few streaks here and there, but they were totally smoothed out with the second coat. I am so happy to have a new yellow with a great formula!

OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go? is a pretty bright mango creme. It leans more on the peach side of things than orange. It kind of has that same feeling of being in between a bright and a more creamy peach. I love this mango kind of color and there aren't a ton of polishes this color, so this is a great addition to the collection.

This is two easy coats of Where Did Suzi's Man-go?. Nice pigmentation and fantastic formula!

OPI Live. Love. Carnaval. is a gorgeous bright coral pink creme. Wow, I love this color! It's so bright and summer-y feeling. It's definite a coral pink, not a straight-up pink. It has a mix of red and orange added into the pink. This is going to basically live on my toes this summer!

This is two coats and again, the formula was excellent. Easy to apply and control, and fabulous pigmentation.

Next up is the bright pink creme of the bunch, OPI Kiss Me I'm Brazilian. This is a bright warm bubblegum pink, not blue leaning though. This is a nice lively pink, a perfect choice for spring and summer.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record again, but two coats and beautiful smooth formula!

OPI Toucan Do It If You Try is a surprise favorite of mine in this collection. In the press release, OPI called this a "confident orange", but it's SO much more than just orange! It's a creamy orange mixed with some salmon pink and I can't think of anything like it in my collection. It is divine on my pale warm skin tone and I can see it being very flattering on a wide variety of skin tones.

This is... you guessed it! Two coats with a great formula.

Before I swatched OPI Red Hot Rio, I was thinking, "oh just another red", but this definitely surprised me. This is a super shiny and juicy hot red crelly. I was expecting it to be a creme, but it is decidedly squishy! It is really a lot brighter than I thought too, way brighter on the nail than in the bottle. I am much more into this than I was expecting! Not your average red creme.

This is three coats of Red Hot Rio. This is a great buildable crelly, as you can see, it's totally opaque in three coats. One or two coats will give you more of that Jolly Rancher slightly translucent look. The formula was fantastic, one of the best crellies I have ever used. It was not at all streaky and it was so easy to apply. I always feel that crellies (unlike jellies) should build to full opacity in three coats, but many don't. This did so beautifully! Oh, and it's SO SHINY! I used top coat for these swatches, but it's really shiny all by itself!

How do I go about picking favorites for this collection? This is one of my personal favorite OPI collections in ages. There wasn't a dud in the bunch. I think for me the standouts were probably Amazon... Amazoff, I Just Can't Cope-acabana, Live. Love. Carnaval., Toucan Do It If You Try, and the beach sandies. But I wouldn't want to skip any of the other colors quite frankly. You can check out my beach sandies swatches here and Part 1 here if you missed them. Do you have your eye on any of these pretty polishes?

Brazil by OPI is available in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas now. Nail lacquers will retail for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) each at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com

OPI Brazil Dotticure!

*Sent for review*

Well I ran out of time to finish swatching the rest of the OPI Brazil collection yesterday, but I did do this really fun polka dot mani with some of the Brazil polishes! I think this collection really lends itself to nail art, so you may see a few more manis around here using these pretties. For this mani, I started off with two coats of OPI Taupe-less Beach. I used a dotting tool to make the dots with OPI Amazon... Amazoff, OPI Where Did Suzi's Man-go?, and OPI Live. Love. Carnaval.

I really like the fact that this collection is part neutrals and part brights. I am always a big fan of mixing brights and neutrals, in makeup, clothing and nails too. It's particularly fun for spring and summer! Give this neutral/bright dotticure a try yourself!

OPI Brazil Collection Swatches, Part 1!

*Sent for review*

I LOVE when you get all hyped about a polish collection and then it totally lives up to your own hype when you get to swatch it! I'm talking about OPI Brazil, the spring/summer collection I've been most excited about this year. I have 6 of the 12 polishes to show you today and I'm thrilled with all of them. I have individual comments about application, but overall, these were paint-themselves-on-butter formula! First up is the duochrome, OPI Next Stop... The Bikini Zone. I had trouble capturing the full range of color shift, but this is a purple to silvery nude duochrome with large particle silver shimmer. The top picture is a little paler than the darkest purple it can appear, but below you can see a good representation of the silvery nude shift.

This is three coats of Next Stop... The Bikini Zone and it was lovely to apply. The formula is a perfect consistency and I had no trouble getting it nice and close to the cuticle. This is a really fun polish to look at, so do use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery while wearing it.

OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around is a pale putty creme. This is not going to be a nude for most people (it's very light in color), but I think it's a nice alternative to white. It would also make a great base for nail art or glitter.

This is two coats and the formula was outstanding. I am very impressed that somebody finally managed to make a creme this pale and it is streak-free and totally opaque in just two coats. Bravo!! There was a tiny bit of streaking on the first coat, but the second coat completely smoothed it all out. This is a pale neutral I could actually use without babying it, yay!

OPI I Sao Paulo Over There is a purple-y taupe creme with hints of gray. I feel like this could be close to some other purple-y taupe OPIs, but it's so gorgeous I don't even care. I can't stop hoarding this kind of color. I think this one goes more purple-y gray on me than others anyway.

I Sao Paulo is also a winner in my book because of it's flawless application. This is two coats, no clean-up. Even if I have a color similar to this, I will probably get rid of that one and keep this instead. I am loving this creme formula.

This pretty browned berry creme was a surprise hit for me. When I first looked at OPI OPI Scores a Goal!, I thought it was strange for a spring/summer collection. Once I got it on my nails however, I remembered how much I love seemingly not spring colors in spring collections! OPI calls this a rich chocolate, but it definitely has berry and red tones to it. Like chocolate raspberry sauce!

Not to sound like a broken record, but this was two coats, amazing application.

OPI Taupe-less Beach is lighter than I usually picture for "taupe", but it's a really nice mix of light gray and taupe. I like that it's a little different than other neutrals we've seen lately. I actually can't wait to wear this one, it was really flattering on me. It's rare for me to be excited about neutral cremes, but I am excited about Taupe-less Beach. I'd go put it on right now, but I'd have to take it back from my mom first because she stole it right after I swatched it!

This is two coats again and applied like a dream. Totally opaque and not a streak in sight. OPI must have put in some werk on their pale neutral creme formula. I hope every creme they release from now on is like these, they are amazing!

I saved the best for last, let the drooling commence! OPI Amazon... Amazoff is a jungle green creme with hints of blue. Don't be mistaken though, this is a green for sure, my pictures are maybe even a little too blue leaning. This is a gorgeous and totally unique shade, I can't think of anything close to it in my collection of around 250-275 blues and greens. It has some shimmer in the bottle, but it's not really visible on the nails. So in love with this one!

This is three coats of Amazon... Amazoff. The formula was a little thinner than the other cremes. If you do thicker coats, two should work for you. I had to use a little more care to make sure this didn't run into my cuticles. Maybe I just got spoiled by the other polishes in this collection! I would recommend using two coats of base coat for this one. I had no staining, but it looks like it could have potential. Totally worth it though.

So far I am really loving the OPI Brazil Collection and I can't wait to try the other 6 polishes! The other 6 are all the brights pinks, reds, etc., so that will be fun! I should have those up Thursday for you.
