OPI Gives Us a Sneak Peek at Spring at NYFW!

The best thing about all the fashion week coverage is the new info we get about upcoming nail polish and makeup collections! OPI even gave us pictures of a brand new pastel mint shade coming in the spring! Check it out!

On Friday, September 5, OPI joined Charlotte Ronson at Lincoln Center for the designer's Spring/Summer 2015 presentation. Lead nail artist Miss Pop created a nail look showcasing negative space, with alternating cutout half moon shapes. To complement the collection's feminine color palette, which included blues ranging from pastel to navy, soft mint and cream, Miss Pop used That's Hula-rious! to create the look. This never-before-seen pastel mint OPI hue is slated to launch in February 2015 as part of OPI's Spring/Summer 2015 seasonal collection.
Toes were lacquered in Bubble Bath; each model's big toe was painted with a daisy falling toward the nail's free edge. To create the daisy, OPI manicurists used: Put a Coat On It! (petals), Jade is the New Black (stem), and Barefoot in Barcelona layered with Need Sunglasses? (flower center).

OPI partnered with Dion Lee to create a striking nail look for the designer’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015 runway show at Hosfelt Gallery on Saturday, September 6. On trend for spring, lead nail artist Miss Pop played with negative space to create a bold nail look featuring a thick stripe of metallic along one side of each nail. Light reflectors were the inspiration for the metallic stripe, providing little flashes of light to catch the eye.
My Signature is DC, a lacquer created in partnership with Coca-Cola, picked up the collection’s metallic fabrics, while the contrast of sheer nail to silver complemented the collection’s contrast of fabric textures and colors.
Each model’s hands were painted with one coat of Base Coat to start. One vertical stripe was painted on the outside side of each nail with two coats of My Signature is DC, and the look was completed with Matte Top Coat.
The look for the toes was the new nude - Matte Top Coat. OPI Flex 220/280 buffer was used to lightly buff nails, and then Matte Top Coat was applied to provide a polished, powdery finish.

OPI, lead by acclaimed nail artist Miss Pop, created a light, feminine look with an unexpected edge on nails and toes at Houghton runway show held at Milk Studios for Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. Nails were painted with Base Coat, two coats of Samoan Sand -- a sheer nude color -- then sealed with Matte Top Coat (a big trend for spring!) and finished with a few hand-placed Swarovski crystals.
Miss Pop worked with Houghton’s designer Katharine Polk in selecting the gemstones each model would wear. On hands, models’ nails were adorned with one, two or three Swarovski crystals in clear or black vertically stacked on the middle finger of both hands, starting from the bottom of the nail. The toes had one crystal on the big toe to match. The gemstones created a subtle sparkle and an unexpected contrast from the sheer nude lacquer with its matte finish that complemented the show’s bold accessories and feminine prints.

OPI kicked off Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week yesterday morning with BCBGMAXAZRIA at Lincoln Center. Lead nail artist Miss Pop painted models' fingers and toes with one coat of  OPI Base Coat followed by two coats of OPI's bestselling soft pink Bubble Bath. She finished the nail with one coat of OPI Top Coat. This sheer, neutral look complemented the collection's bohemian silhouettes, muted pastel floral pieces and earthy tones.

  2. I am so excited for the mint shade Paint those Piggies! Can't wait!

There definitely is more of a focus on interesting nails during Fashion Week than there used to be, Ananka! It's nice to see new shades and nail art too!

  3. Erin, is it just me, or do these nail looks all seem kind of simple and plain? I guess I'm sort of spoiled to all the nail art I see online and am used to more complex, colorful looks. The designers also probably want their clothing to stand out, not the models' nails. What are your thoughts?

  4. Well Cat, I do think they go for more of a simple look because, as you said, they want the focus to be on the clothes. However, just since I started blogging, I have definitely seen the nail looks on the runway become more interesting. When I started blogging, almost every single show used OPI Bubble Bath or a similar sheer pink. There was no color, and certainly no nail art. But in the last 3 or so years, more designers have been choosing interesting looks or having custom colors blended for their shows. So, think of this as baby steps for the fashion industry! Steps in the right direction :)
