OPI Pink of Hearts Duo Swatches!

 *Sent for review*

I can't believe it's this time of year already, but October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and OPI has released this cute polish duo for it's eighth annual Pink of Hearts promotion. According to OPI, "this duo pack is designed to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. In 2014, OPI will donate $25,000 to Susan G. Komen® in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. OPI will also donate $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada". The duo pack includes the classic OPI Mod About You, a new limited edition pink glitter The Power of Pink, and an adorable pink glittery nail file with breast cancer ribbon charm.

Surprisingly, I did not own OPI Mod About You before now. This is pretty much a cult classic OPI shade and after trying it, I definitely see why. Mod About You is a pale pink creme with a good amount of white in the base. It's a very clean looking pink, stark and eye-catching without being harsh. I'm not a fan of baby pinks that fade into the background, but this one really stands out and looks chic to me. I'm not sure why I didn't get this before now!

Mod About You also happens to be a really easy to apply pale pink, and sometimes that's hard to find. This is two coats and it's perfectly opaque. The formula was streak-free and a breeze to use. Love this!

OPI The Power of Pink is the glittery half of the Pink of Hearts duo. The Power of Pink has white and magenta hex glitter, along with small white and magenta glitters in a sheer milky base. These pictures show one coat of The Power of Pink over two coats of Mod About You. I really love the way these look together!

The Power of Pink was very user-friendly. The glitter went on very easily and I didn't have to do any placement of the glitter pieces. This is just one coat over Mod About You and I was happy with the coverage here. The formula is a nice consistency too, not too thick with base like some glitters can be.

You can also wear The Power of Pink alone in 2-3 coats. It's not really full coverage though, so I personally probably wouldn't wear it this way (I have very uneven whites of my nails, so sheer is not my friend). Here is my thumb nail with two coats of The Power of Pink alone. I do think it looks really cute this way! I didn't top coat my thumb nail and I like how it dried a bit matte looking.

I really like this duo overall. If you don't already own Mod About You, I would really encourage you to try it. It's no wonder it's such a classic, it really is a great looking shade. The glitter is cute and looks fabulous over Mod About You and I will enjoy whipping out the glittery nail file too!

Pink of Hearts 2014 will be available September and October 2014 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, beautybrands.com, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $16.95 ($21.50 CAN) suggested retail.
