Happy Halloween with Sally Hansen Salon Effects!

 *Sent for review*

Happy Halloween readers! I have another quick post for you today because I still really don't feel well. But, there are a few things I will ALWAYS do on Halloween, even if I am on my death bed. #1. Wear a costume for at least some portion of the evening. I don't care how sick I am, I'm wearing a costume. #2. Watch "Hocus Pocus" and yell "Amuck, amuck, amuck!" with SJP. #3. Have cute Halloween nails. Thankfully, Sally Hansen solved the cute Halloween nails thing for me with these Salon Effects nail appliques. Sally Hansen has four Halloween Salon Effects designs this year including this one "Hallowscene", "Skull and Crossbows", "Kiss My Face" (little lips with fangs!), and "Little Black Lace".

I'm posing in front of two pumpkins I spray painted gold and black last week. They look adorable! These Sally Hansen Salon Effects are pretty easy to apply. Just select the right size sticker for your nail, apply, trim to fit and file off the excess. I tend to over file (you can see below), but it isn't noticeable in person with this design.

The white part on these glows in the dark!! It glows really strongly too, I love it!

The only downside to these is that they don't typically last long on me. They can be removed by soaking in soap and water, so after I shower, they usually come off. But they are perfect for a one night event like Halloween or a Halloween party! You still have time to go grab these at a drugstore near you for whatever events you have going on tonight!

NYC Halloween Giveaway Winner!

The winner of the NYC Halloween goodies giveaway is Lesley! Check your email Lesley and congratulations! You have until Sunday night 11:59 pm EST to reply to my email before I pick a new winner. Thanks to all who entered!

Lynnderella Mickey Says Boo and a Black Kitty!

*Sally Hansen Pumpkin Queen sent for review, everything else purchased by me*

I'm dropping in late today with a quick post. I REALLY wanted to show you my Halloween treat I bought for myself, Lynnderella Mickey Says Boo, but I have strep throat and generally feel like death, so I'll be brief. This is Mickey Says Boo over an unnamed Color Club mini black creme. The accent nail is Sally Hansen Pumpkin Queen with a little black cat face. I drew the cat face with a black sharpie and dotted on the eyes using AEngland Princess Sabra/Tristam's Eyes (it seemed appropriate!).

I LOVE Mickey Says Boo!! I wanted it so badly last year, but it was too expensive. I'm glad the price was reasonable this year. The sharpie kitty looked better in person, by the way. Here it looks kinda streaky, but it didn't in person (to my fever ridden brain anyway).

I have one more Halloween thing to show you tomorrow, and I can't decide if Mickey Says Boo will be my Halloween mani, or the thing I'm showing you tomorrow... Not that I'm going anywhere on Halloween with strep throat! Lynnderella Mickey Says Boo is not currently available, but I believe it will be around again on lynnderella.com and the Lynnderella StorEnvy.

Also, don't forget my Halloween giveaway ends tonight!!!

NYC Halloween Goodies 2014 Swatches and Review!

 *Sent for review*

Today I have a bunch of goodies from the NYC Halloween 2014 collection to show you. Don't forget that you can win some of the treats shown here (and more) in my Trick or Treat Giveaway! First up is NYC Animal Instincts, a peachy orange creme. Animal Instincts really has more of a pumpkin orange base, but then it has some hidden shimmer that looks pink to me, so it ends up with a peach appearance more than straight pumpkin orange. The shimmer is pretty subtle, but it adds dimension to the polish. I love this color!

This is three coats of Animal Instincts. It was pretty much opaque at two coats, but it looked a little uneven, so I used a third to even it all out. It dries nice and fast, like the In a New York Color Minute line is supposed to. The formula is the perfect consistency, not too thick, but not too thin either.

NYC I am Not AffRED was much cooler on the nails than in the bottle. In the bottle, it looks very murky and dark red, almost black. However on my nails, it became a vampy berry wine creme, almost jelly finish. It is too opaque to really be a jelly, but it has that squishy quality to it. I am Not AffRED is a great vampy, almost bloody looking polish. Perfect for Halloween. I think the name is supposed to be a play on "I am Not Afraid"... but afraid only has one "f", so maybe that second "f" is a typo LOL.

This is three coats of I am Not AffRED. Like Animal Instinct, it was opaque in two, but needed some evening out. The formula was the same lovely consistency though, and was easy to apply.

Hello new favorite eye shadow quad!!! I love these NYC IndividualEyes palettes and have several now. They come with four eye shadows, a base/primer, and a highlighter. This one, Vampiress, has a lovely champagne shadow, a reddish purple, a darker taupe-y purple with some reddish shimmer, and a smooth pigmented black shadow. The highlighter is a creamy, silver-tinged white. I find these NYC shadows to apply beautifully, they are buttery and smooth. They are very pigmented when layered over the included base (as shown in my swatches). I applied these just with my finger. These shadows sometimes have a bit of fallout, but otherwise I find them to perform beautifully. They last all day when I wear them over my primer of choice, Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion.

That purple-y taupe shade is my favorite! So gorgeous! I will get a ton of use out of this palette.

NYC Dark Rebirth is a great black lipstick for Halloween. It's a deep creamy black and covers my medium pigmented lips nicely. Below I swatched it straight from the tube. On the left is 3 passes, on the right is one pass. I have a horrible cold right now and my lips are in bad shape, so no lip pics. I did try it on my lips and had to use a few passes to cover my lips evenly, but other than that it applied nicely. It goes on creamy, but dries to more of a satin finish.

Overall, I love everything I got from the NYC Halloween collection. My favorites are Animal Instincts polish and Vampiress eye shadow palette. That palette is amazing, if you like make-up at all or even sometimes wear eye shadow, go get that palette! It rocks! NYC Halloween is available at a drugstore near you. Don't forget to enter my giveaway to win some of these items and other items from the collection!

Lynnderella Remains of the Day

*Sent for review*

My favorite Halloween polishes always come from Lynnderella. The first Lynnderellas I ever purchased were from her Early Halloween collection and I anxiously await her Halloween goodies every year. Lynnderella Remains of the Day is a great Halloween glitter bomb. This limited edition beauty is a mix of multiglitter and larger glitters with tons of orange-gold shimmer. There are lots of different large glitters in here, including yellow and red stars, silver holo moons, holo black diamonds, and assorted skull glitters, although I didn't get any of those this time. I love when Lynnderella does these polishes with just tons of assorted glitter, they are my favorite glitter toppers!

I dabbed one coat of Remains of the Day over NYC Animal Instinct. There is a lot of glitter in Remains of the Day, so it was a little thicker than some other Lynns. It applied very well with the dabbing method though.

Lynnderella Remains of the Day and other awesome Halloween Lynnderellas are available at lynnderella.com and the Lynnderella StorEnvy shop. For more information on Lynnderella polish, visit her blog.

Sally Hansen Halloween 2014-Goodies!

 *Sent for review*

Get ready for Halloween coming at you for the next week here on Never Enough Nails! I have lots of fun polishes to share with you. Today I have a couple of this year's Halloween treats from Sally Hansen to show you. This perfect pumpkin orange creme polish is Sally Hansen Pumpkin Queen. I'm really excited about this polish because I have been searching for a true pumpkin orange polish. I own a lot of oranges, but many of them are too bright, too red, too yellow or too peachy. Pumpkin Queen is just pure pumpkin goodness! This Halloween, Sally Hansen also released three other Insta-Dri polishes- a matte black named Scaredy Matte (so cute!), a black creme (Night Fright) and a white creme (Omghost).

This is two easy coats of Pumpkin Queen, I love this formula! I generally really like Insta-Dri polishes. After you get used to the shape of the brush, I think they are actually easier to apply and get that nice shape by the cuticle without clean-up. I used one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat (the red bottle) to top it off, but it's pretty shiny all by itself.

Sally Hansen has two new Big Glitter Top Coats for Halloween 2014. This is Sally Hansen Dressed to Thrill over Pumpkin Queen. Dressed to Thrill is a gorgeous rose gold glitter mix in a clear base. There two sizes of smaller rose gold glitter and medium size holographic square glitters.

This is one coat of Dressed to Thrill over Pumpkin Queen. It was easy to apply and had the perfect balance of glitter to base- not too thick or too thin. I used regular brushstrokes to apply this and it went on evenly.

The second Big Glitter Top Coat for Halloween is Sally Hansen Costume Glitters. Costume Glitters is a mix of silver glitters in a clear base. This has two sizes of smaller silver glitter, some smaller holo glitters and medium holographic square glitter.

This is one coat of Costume Glitters over NYC Blackula (from last Halloween).  I did a bit of dabbing when I applied this one. With the darker base color, I wanted the glitter to look nice and evenly applied. It applied well though and had the same nice consistency as Dressed to Thrill.

Sally Hansen also has two new Fuzzy Coat polishes and four varieties of Salon Effects nail stickers for Halloween 2014. I have one of the Salon Effects to show you next, they are SO CUTE!!!! Sally Hansen Halloween 2014 products are available at a drugstore near you!

Lynnderella Halloween Twinset Swatches!

 *Sent for review*

Last weekend I entered full on Halloween mode. I decorated the inside and outside of my house, spray painted some pumpkins, did a Halloween mani and pedi and binge watched Halloweentown movies (sorry, I'm not sorry. I love those movies!). I've worn both polishes from the 2014 Lynnderella Halloween twinset as full manis and they are truly spectacular. The stunning purple glitter is Lynnderella Ouanga d'Amour. Lynnderella must have used a magical violet glitter for this polish because it seriously glows such a bright blue-violet color in person. The violet glitter is complemented by red and green accents and the polish has a violet shimmered base. Ouanga, by the way, is a Voodoo spell or potion.

This is just one coat of Ouanga d'Amour over OPI Can't Afjord Not To. It was easy to apply and the glitter is plentiful.

I originally wanted the twinset mostly for Lynnderella "It" Ghoul (although I am now head over heels in love with Ouanga, LOL). "It" Ghoul is a seriously awesome grey microglitter with a slight pale gold/platinum flash to it. It is really hard to capture that gold flash, but you can see it in person. It gives the polish a kind of antiqued look. There are larger glitter pieces in this as well, in green, orange, gold, and violet. Lynnderella describes this as "something like a fancy gilded graveyard dust"! Love that description!

This is two coats of "It" Ghoul over OPI Warm Me Up, but it could be worn alone in 2-3 coats for sure. This is a truly unique polish and I wish my photos had captured it's full amazingness.

The 2014 Lynnderella Halloween Twinset is available now on lynnderella.com and at the Lynnderella StorEnvy. For more information on Lynnderella polish, check out her blog

Zoya MatteVelvet Re-release Swatches!

*Sent for review*

I was so excited to hear that Zoya was re-releasing their famous MatteVelvets, from back in the heyday of mattes. Those were the glory days of OPI Suedes and matte top coats galore. When the Zoya MatteVelvets were first released, I only bought Verushchka for some reason. I think I just had spent too much money on other polish at the time. But ever since then, I have been wishing I had bought the whole set. I'm pumped to show you the re-released MatteVelvets today! The formula of most of these is pretty much the same, so I will discuss that at the end of the post.

First up is Zoya Dovima, a shimmering black matte. If you weren't around for the first MatteVelvet release, this formula is a matte finish with tons of beautiful shimmer. The shimmer in the matte finish polish creates a very cool kind of frosted glass look. Dovima looks like sparkling asphalt  in the hot summer sun. Gorgeous! This is two coats.

Boy, have I regretted not getting Zoya Harlow for years now. I am so happy to finally have this stunning shimmering fuchsia matte. Harlow is a blue-toned pinky purple with plenty of shimmer. Zoya calls it "wine", but it reads more pink to me.

This is two easy coats of Harlow.

Zoya Loredana is a gunmetal gray shimmering matte. The shimmer in this one looks chunkier up close, but like all of the others, it is totally smooth to the touch.  This steely gray is perfect for matte and gray lovers alike.

This is three coats of Loredana. It is the only one of the MatteVelvets that I needed a third coat for it to be completely opaque. The formula felt thinner than the others. It wasn't really problematic, just worth mentioning.

The lovely Zoya Posh is a shimmering berry red matte. This will be my go to for fast easy holiday manis this year. I am really excited to have this in my collection with the holiday season approaching. I get so busy, but I still want to look polished. Posh will be perfect for slapping on two quick coats and getting out the door.

Posh is a little pinker toned on my nails than it is in the bottle, but if you want more of a true red feel, I bet a third coat would help with that.

Ahhhh the stunning Zoya Veruschka! You can see why, if I was forced to choose just one MatteVelvet, I would pick this one. Veruschka is like smooth shimmering green velvet. Like the mossy carpet on a forest floor. Veruschka is still one of my absolute favorite Zoyas of all time and the re-release does not disappoint.

This is two smooth and flawless coats. This applied like butter!

I thought some of you might be curious to see how Veruschka 2.0 compares to the original, so here you are. From left to right- original version, re-release, original, and re-release. I think the re-release applied better and looks more smooth. The original version is ever so slightly darker, but not by much. I can see brush strokes on the nails painted with the original, but none on those with the new version. I am very happy with the color and quality of the new version. A++ Zoya!

Zoya Savita is another beauty I truly regretted skipping the first time around. Savita is a shimmering plum matte. The shimmer in the gorgeous purple base almost looks pink sometimes and the effect is so pretty. The purple hue is perfect for fall and winter, a bit deep and moody, but very obviously purple.

This is two coats of Savita.

*Sent for review*

With the exception of Loredana, these were all perfectly smooth two coaters. They are mattes, so they tend to dry quickly. Make sure you do just 3 brushstrokes per nail and let each coat dry completely before applying another. Loredana was just a little thinner and needed three coats, but it was still pretty easy to apply. Overall, I am so pleased that Zoya decided to release these again! It is one of the most exciting collections this year for me personally. My favorites from the MatteVelvet collection are Veruschka, Harlow and Savita. But I wouldn't want to skip the others either!

The Zoya MatteVelvet collection is available now at zoya.com
