I Love Nail Polish Electric Carnival Swatches! Happy New Year's Eve!

*Purchased by me*

I finally found a polish I love SO much that I refuse to take it off until next year!!! (har har har) My New Year's Eve mani is usually some sort of glitter bomb, most often with silver and/or gold, but this year I am going with the stunningly gorgeous I Love Nail Polish Electric Carnival. Electric Carnival is one of the three ILNP Ultra Chrome Flakies I ordered (I also got Metropolis and Supernova) and the one I wanted to try first. This was the Ultra Chrome Flakie that I immediately wanted from the minute the first news of these hit my email. The flakies in Electric Carnival go from red to purple to hot magenta to gold and all the way to green. It seems like I can see a million colors in these flakies.

The ILNP Ultra Chrome Flakies are really just flakies in a clear base, but they are supposed to be opaque in 3-4 coats, making them very different from other flakies we've seen in the past. The swatches you see here are just 3 coats of Electric Carnival dabbed on!! I was very sceptical of the "full coverage in 3-4 coats" claim, but it's actually true. This was very easy to apply and the flakies really do lay perfectly flat and feel smooth to the touch. It also dried very quickly. Removal was easier than a glitter, but a tad slower than a regular creme.

This is one of those polishes that you just keep staring at when you're wearing it. It's really fun to see it in all kinds of different lighting situations. More colors seem to appear all the time! I honestly don't want to take this off. And when I do take it off, I just want to put on Metropolis or Supernova. I hope those two are as amazing as Electric Carnival!

I also wanted to give Electric Carnival a try over a black creme. So my official New Year's Eve mani is below. I am having a really fun time moving my fingers around while wearing this mani, as you can tell! This is two coats of ILNP Electric Carnival over a random Color Club mini black creme. Electric Carnival looks incredible this way too!

*Purchased by me*

ILNP Electric Carnival and the rest of the Ultra Chrome Flakies are available now at ILNP.com. In my opinion, you need Electric Carnival for sure! I didn't wear it until the last day of 2014, but I think it's my #1 favorite polish of the year! I kinda want to order more ILNPs now!

So what do you have planned for New Year's Eve? My boyfriend and I are going to get some take out and watch old episodes of The Walking Dead! Happy 2015 everyone!

Formula X Alchemy Swatches and Win Your Own Bottle of Alchemy!

 *Purchased by me*

Sephora's Formula X brand really knows how to suck me in. Names like "Prophecy" and "Alchemy" and super sparkly complex polishes like this one... count me in! Formula X Alchemy is a cool foil with a mix of rose gold, gold, and bluish looking dark silver. Sephora described it as "platinum-infused, mixed metal shimmer". It definitely has a mixed metal look, you can see all of the different metallic colors. It's a bit hard to capture it's true glory in pictures, but Alchemy is truly gorgeous.

This is three coats of Alchemy. Two coats is totally opaque, I only did the third because this is the kind of polish that my camera typically likes to make it look sheer. It was super easy to apply and the formula is excellent- great consistency and no troubles at all.

*Purchased by me*

Now the bad news is that Formula X Alchemy is limited edition and it's sold out online. The good news is that I have a bottle to give away to one lucky reader! Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. The giveaway is open to all readers and it will end at midnight EST on January 4, 2015.

Merry Christmas, plus Lynnderella Sugar and Ice and Kitty Climbs a Christmas Tree!!

*Purchased by me*

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! I hope everyone is enjoying time with your families and some delicious holiday treats. I have two beautiful Christmas Lynnderella polishes for you today- it's never too early to order them for next year!! The first Lynnderella Sugar and Ice, a delicate combination of white, pink, red and green glitters in a clear shimmery base. I love this because it has my favorite circle glitters in assorted sizes! I swear, I never get tired of those!! The glitters are a nice mix of metallic, pastel, satin and maybe some matte in there too. The mixture of those finishes makes this really pretty.

This is one coat of Sugar and Ice over OPI International Crime Caper. Sugar and Ice was really easy to apply and the glitter was very plentiful.

Even if I didn't love green as much as I do, I would have gotten Lynnderella Kitty Climbs a Christmas Tree just for the name! Cat lovers, you know that this is a serious temptation for cats every Christmas. Binx has climbed our tree several times this year, but he's only gone about 2 feet up, so he hasn't toppled the tree (yet!). Kitty Climbs a Christmas Tree is a pine green microglitter with larger colored accent glitters.

Kitty Climbs a Christmas Tree would probably be opaque in 2-3 coats, but I usually prefer to layer my microglitters anyway. This is two coats over one coat of Revlon Posh. This is nice and easy to apply, maybe a hair thicker due to all of the glitter in it, but I didn't find that to affect the application.

 *Purchased by me*

These two are definitely my two favorites from the Lynnderella Deck the Nails (with Lynnderellas) collection. They are available now on lynnderella.com and lynnderella.storenvy.com. To see the whole collection, please check out Lynnderella's blog.

Christmas Decal Marble and Glitter too!!

*All OPI polishes in this post were sent for review*

At this point, I am realizing that I only have a short time left to do Christmas manis. But I still have a long list of Christmas polishes I want to wear!! So I keep doing manis with accent nails and basically throwing as much stuff into each mani as possible. I'm not really going for a sophisticated look right now LOL. For this look, I used two coats of OPI Christmas Gone Plaid with one coat of Lynnderella Season's Glitterings for six nails. Season's Glitterings looks absolutely perfect over the deep dark forest green of Christmas Gone Plaid.

For the two accent nails on each hand, I made marbled decals using the technique I described in this post. I used OPI Cinnamon Sweet for the red, OPI Angel with a Leadfoot for the white and OPI Christmas Gone Plaid for the green. I think I would recommend using a different red if you try this. Cinnamon Sweet stained my cuticles and I could not get it to clean up properly. There are plenty of other red choices around though!

*All OPI polishes in this post were sent for review*

This was a fun look to do and to wear. I got a lot of compliments on it when I was out doing my shopping yesterday. But now, I must move on to the next crazy Christmas mani while I still have time! I also need to finish my shopping and make Christmas cookies!!!

China Glaze Party Hearty and Christmas Tree Accent!

*Some products sent for review*

The last week of dance classes before Christmas, we always do little Christmas parties for the kids. We have a snack (junk food like chips and cookies!) and they do a grab bag gift exchange. The kids looks forward to it every year and I wanted to have something fun on my nails for the week. I have to wear China Glaze Party Hearty at least once a year, so I decided to do that over OPI Angel with a Leadfoot. For my accent nail, I made a Christmas tree with Scotch tape and Revlon Posh. The "ornaments" on the tree are OPI Unfrost My Heart applied with a dotting tool. I dug out a silver star glitter from a bag of spare glitter I had and used that as my Christmas tree topper.

Overall I think the tree is super cute. I might do it again for Christmas day. This came out a little crooked, but I always get a real Christmas tree for my house and they are never perfectly symmetrical either LOL! Also, every time I do a mani with Scotch tape, I get impatient and take the tape off before I should. So when I do this again, I will have the patience of a saint and the edges will be cleaner!

NYC Sparkle Eye Dusts- The Perfect Holiday Eye Shadow!

 *Sent for review*

Are you looking for an inexpensive way to jazz up your eye makeup for upcoming holiday parties? Grab some of the new NYC Sparkle Eye Dusts! These are really great shimmery powder eye shadows that come with their own doe foot applicator. The packaging is extremely convenient for tossing in your purse for quick touch-ups or transitioning your makeup from office to party. I have three shades swatched for you today. From left to right in the pictures we have NYC Pink Topaz, Smokey Topaz and Bronze Shimmer. The top picture is indoors in low light, the second is outside in natural light and the third is in full sun.

Pink Topaz is a lovely pinky champagne shimmer. This would be perfect as a wash all over the eye lid with black winged liner and a red lip! Smokey Topaz is my favorite of the three and a MUST SEE for taupe lovers! It is a sparkling smoky taupe with some hints of purple-y grey. The sparkles in this really pop in person and look multi-colored. The exact shade of Smokey Topaz changes in different lighting situations, sometimes it looks darker and more brown, other times lighter and more purple or grey. Bronze Shimmer is a gorgeous rich shimmery bronze. It looks more coppery in some lights, with almost a reddish tinge.

Below you can see Smokey Topaz swatched over a base (Maybelline Color Tattoo in Nude Compliment). When worn over a base like a Maybelline Color Tattoo, these last all day on me with no creasing or fading. I experienced a bit of fall out when I first applied them, but I found that tapping the excess shadow off of the applicator first really reduces that fall out to almost nothing. These are beautifully smooth and really nice to apply!

After being so impressed with the NYC Halloween eye shadow palette I tried, I had high hopes for these and they certainly lived up to my expectations! I own a lot of higher end eye shadow, including NARS, Chanel, Dior, Armani and YSL.  In fact, it's hard to say which is larger- my makeup collection or my nail polish collection! I can honestly say that the NYC eye shadows I have tried, including these Sparkle Eye Dusts, are as pigmented and smooth as many of the eye shadows I own that are more than 10 times the price. NYC Sparkle Eye Dusts are available at drugstores near you for $2.99!!!

Sally Hansen Goldi-Flecks and Over the Rain Blue Swatches!

 *Sent for review*

Sally Hansen has some glitter toppers out right now that could be great in holiday manis or they could offer you a nice break from holiday manis, depending on your color choices! The Complete Salon Manicure line has a new Sequin Overcoat collection featuring 7 glitters top coats with shades ranging from pale blush to sparkling blue. Today I have Sally Hansen Over the Rain Blue for you, a mix of royal blue glitters, paler turquoise glitters and silver bar glitter accents in a clear base. I love the combination of royal blue with the lighter blue!

I dabbed one coat of Over the Rain Blue over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Dabbing is the best way to apply this, the glitter seemed a tad unwilling come out and play. On the bright side, the bar glitters in this polish are kind of short and thick, and I find those to lay flatter and behave better than their longer, skinnier relatives.

Sally Hansen also has three new Big Glitter Topcoats now, including Sally Hansen Goldi-Flecks. Goldi-Flecks has gold bar and hex glitters mixed with either white or very pale silver glitters. In person, they look like white glitter, but I am noticing that in the pictures, they look silver. Maybe they are metallic white, so they're reflecting the light! Or maybe there is white AND silver glitter! Either way, I like the mix of that with the gold. It's more dimensional than just gold glitter.

I found Goldi-Flecks to be pretty easy to apply. This is one dabbed coat of Goldi-Flecks over Sally Hansen Ruby Rush. The glitter was plentiful and I didn't need to fish for it.

NYC Big City Dazzle Sparkle Topcoat Swatches!

*Sent for review*

I've had a bunch of people ask me lately for festive holiday nail ideas that don't involve red and green. I guess more people are growing tired of wearing a whole month (or more) of red and green nails. NYC Big City Dazzle arrived at my doorstep recently and immediately struck me as a really party-ready glitter that would be perfect for the holidays! Big City Dazzle has blue, purple and yes, some red glitter, all in a clear base. NYC suggests using it to "take your nails from the office to after-hours" and it would definitely be perfect for that. This pretty sparkle would look great over an office appropriate sheer pink or nude. I decided to step it up a few more notches and go straight to holiday bash by layering it over a blingy silver.

This is two coats of Big City Dazzle over Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. Big City Dazzle was easy to apply, I just did regular brushstrokes with it. One coat looked nice, but I always like a little more glitter (or a lot LOL), so I did two coats.

I finally got my Christmas tree up this weekend! I will post some pictures soon when I get some good ones!

SinfulColors Holiday 2014 Swatches and Review!

 *Sent for review*

Today I have swatches of some of the great holiday nail polish offerings from SinfulColors. SinfulColors has 22 polishes out for holiday 2014, including 8 previously released holiday favorites, 7 blue/hints of gold lacquers, 5 glitter flake polishes, and 2 opalescent toppers. This lovely red glitter topper is SinfulColors Decadent. Decadent has metallic crimson red hex glitter and small red glitter in a clear base.

This is one coat of Decadent over SinfulColors Out of This World, a pale silver shimmer (also available now with the holiday colors, although mine is from a previous release). Decadent was pretty easy to apply with the dabbing method. I think with regular brushstrokes, the glitter would move around too much, so dabbing and spreading it around is the best way to apply this polish.

This pretty ice blue shimmer is the aptly named SinfulColors Ice Blue. I love SinfulColors description of Ice Blue. They say it's a "soft indigo exploding with silver sparkle". This is almost like a very fine glass fleck finish, you can see all the individual shimmer flecks.

Ice Blue was very very sheer on the first coat. I was doubtful that it would build up at all, but this is three coats and there's only a little bit of VNL. I don't really mind the VNL here, I think it allows the silver shimmer to show through here. Depending on the thickness of your coats, you could need 3 or maybe even 4 coats, but the soft sparkling icicle blue might be worth it!

Now here is a perfect Christmas look! This is SinfulColors Twilight Twinkles over SinfulColor SinfulShine Devious. Twilight Twinkles features irregularly sized and shaped shards of metallic yellow gold glitter. I typically don't like shard glitter, but I like the fact that this has shards, but also longer pieces that are almost like bar glitter, small square-like chunks, and just different shapes throughout. This shard glitter also lays flat, so that helps me like it more!

This is one dabbed coat of Twilight Twinkles over Devious. Again, dabbing is really the best method here. This polish has a bit too much clear base for the amount of glitter in it, so you have to watch that you don't blob on too much. With a polish like that, I like to wipe some of the glitter on the neck of the bottle, wipe off the excess base, and then pick up the glitter again to apply it.

Finally we have the festive SinfulColors Galax-Sea, a collection of different sizes and shapes of green and gold glitter in a clear base. Like Twilight Twinkles, this has larger shards, but it also has regular square glitter, hex glitter, and teeny tiny shards. It makes for a more interesting look than just shard glitters by themselves.

This is two dabbed coats of Galax-Sea over SinfulColors SinfulShine Rise & Shinier. Galax-Sea was the most difficult of the bunch to apply. Even with dabbing, I thought it was kind of tough to get the glitter to spread out evenly. Like Twilight Twinkles, this seemed like it had too much clear base. It also took a long time to dry, even with quick dry top coat. If you love the look of it, I think it's worth $1.99, but it's not the easiest glitter to apply.
